Chateau Lynch Bages

Chateau Lynch Bages

Pauillac

Location: Chateau Lynch Bages is located in the commune of Pauillac, with vineyards scattered throughout the central part of the appellation.

Size: 175 acres producing 30,000 cases.

Classification: Fifth Growth

Vineyard: 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, 5% Malbec and Petit Verdot.

Vinification: Classic methods; 20-22 months in barrels of which 25% are new annually.

History: Emigrants to Bordeaux from Ireland, the Lynch family gained a certain prominence, and by 1749 owned the large domain of 'Bages' south of Pauillac. After 1824 a series of owners controlled the estate.  The Cazes family took control in 1935, and Lynch Bages is now the beautiful property of the well-known Jean-Michel Cazes.
