Macon-Lugny 'Les Charmes'

Location: Mâconnais, Burgundy (Appellation Macon-Lugny Controlée). The 'Les Charmes' vineyard of 98 acres is located on a south sloping plateau near the village of Lugny

Grape Variety: 100% Chardonnay

History: The "Les Charmes" vineyard is specially prized for the age of its vines, some as old as 100 years, and its exceptional southern exposure. The wine, vinified and bottled at the nearby Cave de Lugny, is the best selling white Burgundy in the United States.

Vinification and aging: Vinified in stainless steel vats and bottled with no oak aging.

Style: Richer and more intense than most Macons. Medium body, clean and fresh.

Food: Serve well chilled as an aperitif, or with seafood dishes without rich sauces, chicken, veal and pork.
