Pierre Matrot

Meursault "Perrieres"

Puligny Montrachet "Chalumeaux"

Puligny Montrachet "Combettes"

A more unassuming and reticent Burgundian than Monsieur Pierre Matrot would be hard to find. Were it not for his more forceful and business minded sister, it is easy to think that little or none of his magnificent wines would find their way to the outside world. But such is naturally not the case: Meursaults from Matrot have long been among the most sought-after bottles of this deservedly popular white Burgundy. Today, his son Thierry, has taken over most of the wine making and produces superb Premier Cru Puligny-Montrachets - "Chalumeaux" and "Combettes". A sign of Modern times in Burgundy: Thierry has recently installed a small freight elevator to connect the mail floor of his press house with several subterranean levels of his cellars. Otherwise, things remain as classic as they ever were.
