F. E. Trimbach

Riesling "Cuvee Frederic Emile"

Location: Alsace, France. (Appellation Alsace Controlée)

The Trimbach winery is located in the town of Ribeauville. Trimbach owns 70 acres in Ribeauville, Hunawihr and Bergheim. Total production is about 80,000 cases.

Grape Variety: 100% Riesling

History: The Trimbach family has been making wines in the French province of Alsace since 1626 -- a remarkable succession from father to son based on an unchanging devotion to the wines of their beautiful corner of France.

Run by the 11th generation of the Trimbach family, Bernard makes the wine and his younger brother Hubert sells it. Pierre Trimbach's wine making is impeccable and results in firm, masculine, bone dry and richly fruity wines of enormous breeding -- for some a yardstick by which to judge all others in the region. The top selling brand of Alsace wine in the United States.

Made only from selected grapes from the Trimbach family vineyards, the cuvee is named after Frederic-Emile Trimbach who was head of the family and the family firm, in the latter part of the 19th century.

Vinification and aging: The wine is vinified to complete dryness - no residual sugar. Fermented in stainless steel vats with no oak aging. bottling is early to preserve freshness.

Style: If the Riesling is the "King of Alsace Wines", the Cuvee Frederic-Emile is the King of Rieslings. Elegant and fruity, renowned for it's classic aroma, this Riesling is shown on wine lists in the best restaurants around the world.

Food: Excellent with fish (salmon, turbo, sea bass, grilled tuna, swordfish and others)… Grilled or cooked in a noble sauce. Delicious with poultry and veal, as well as all fowl and light meats. Traditionally served in Alsace with goose and pork.
