2000 Vintage - Medoc - Bordeaux
Vintage 2000 in the Medoc, the left-bank region of Bordeaux was the best since 1990.
June started with lower temperatures than normal and in addition to continued chilly weather, there were rains in July. But then in late July the sun came out and stayed out through most of August. The rains that normally arrive in late September did not show up in 2000 and the unusually warm and sunny weather continued.
There were a few days of very cool weather right at the end of September. This was just at the point that the best producers of the Medoc were just beginning to harvest their Cabernet Sauvignon. Fortunately, the warm weather returned and the harvest proceeded successfully.
